Swollen Gums Can Be Petrifying
Gum disease is an inflammation of gums that should not be neglected even at its early phase, is a chronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth. However, more often it being neglected for symptoms may be painless during at its first signs.
Swollen gums as one of its earliest signs may be petrifying for it does not deliver pain and discomfort at its early stage but whenever pain and discomfort already bothers, it should be given extra attention. When swollen gums left untreated it may progress to advance periodontal or gum disease and may need surgical treatments at its most serious case and can eventually cause tooth loss. Swollen gums not only indicate gum disease, it may even be a sign or symptom of an existing medical condition. There is a need for a dental health care to check on swollen gums condition to know its underlying cause and proper treatment can be administered.
Swollen gums due to bacteria may be prevented with proper oral care. It only takes regular brushing and flossing to be prevented from bacteria causing infection. Salt and warm water solution as a mouth rinse may also be helpful.
